Some people
I assume we have all been there. “There” being in the presence of “them” (the judges). At the pond today one guy said to me, “it always makes me sad to see a dog who has lost their leg…” I said to this guy: “you should not be sad for The Oreo is sooooooooo happy to be out of that terrible pain from the osteosarcoma.” Soooooooooo happy!
Here is a before amputation photo (Couldn’t find The Oreo that day. Finally found her plunked in the flower bed, her head on a rock…. completely knackered from the pain….cream crackered!)
And here she is now. No pain meds, just fun to be had! Be happy everyone!

I can totally relate. We get that a lot. I was born with three legs so I don’t know any different!
Oh baby girl you look soooo darn pretty! Yeah, we have heard those comments too and all we can say is that we feel sorry for THEM, for they know not the lessons that are within every dog but especially Tripawds and specially-challenged pets. Our Forums have great comebacks for folks like that, check out this post:

Unfortunately, there is no cure for ignorance! Proof again, you just can’t fix “stupid”! Would hate to think what kind of insensitive remarks he makes to humans who have lost a limb
Your response was spot on!
Actually in fairness to “him”, he may have just been trying to express compassion…….maybe?
The Oreo’s pictures tell it all! She is such a handsome, and clearly very happy, dog! The “before” picture is what is “sad”—–not the “after picture”!
Rock on beautiful Oreo! Rock on!
Wonderful to see Oreo sooooo joyful!

I’ve never had anyone actually say it, but get the “look” all the time. Some people!
